Acer executive Jim Wong, leader of the company’s IT Goods division, outlined the strategy all through an interview with Bloomberg at Acer’s headquaters in Taipei.

Before this summer is out, Acer will be expected to announce an e-book reader with a 6-inch black and white display, Mr. Wong told Bloomberg. “Amazon.com, B and N; they are U.S.-centric. In Western Europe and Australasia we have publishers to work with, and most of them are content owners,” he maintained. Acer would go up against models including the Dx , Barnes and Noble Inc.’s Nook and Sony’s Reader and so it will be easy to compare ebook reader models.
